Despite
the nail biting state of the Nigerian economy, selling Akara is fast becoming a
lucrative business nowadays as more Nigerians are venturing into this line of
business in other to create a source of livelihood for
themselves. Mrs. Stella
John, the C.E.O of Mama Lucky Mrs. Biggs has been selling Akara, Potato and
Fried yam for over 12 years. The business started at Iyana-egbede in Ojo L.G.A before moving to Iyana-Isashi bus-stop, where she has become a woman of relevance and importance.
The
fact that Mrs. Stella, a widow with four male children, has successfully
sponsored the education of her children up to the university level from the same
business is really inspiring.

When asked if she has ever thought of quitting
the business, her response was quite humorous. She said ‘I thought of closing
the business yesterday but the business is no longer about what I feel or how I
feel. This business is about the people,
serving them can be really frustrating but the love and passion for what I do
has really encouraged me to stay in it. The feeling of earning from what you
love to do is amazing . Success doesn't come on a platter of gold. You've got to be consistent with what you are doing before you can be successful and known for it.

The only time Mama
Lucky Mrs. Biggs take a break is during festive periods and on Sundays. With
the wealth of experience in the business, John Lucky said, ‘we are working
towards re-branding and expanding the business’
She is indeed a source
of encouragement to so many people in Iyana-Isashi. I have come to realize that
consistency is the key for progress.
In the book of proverbs, we were admonish to bee diligent at what we call work or business. Diligence (consistency and hard-work) grants you access into territories where men of substance can be found. Make that decision to be committed to your carer today. It may not payoff immediately but when you are constantly at it, success will become your destination.
